REgretably, I never, to the best of my memory, spoke a word to Al during our 4 years at PHS.  Luckily,  that changed thanks to this website.  We bonded over the lack of "In Memory" entries for fallen classmates, and tried to figure out ways to stimulate forgotten memories of the deceased.  And now Al has joined their ranks.

I loved Al's openness and honesty.  His MCing at the 50th, and his heartfelt letter to the class following a few days later shall always remain in my memory.  I treasure the saturday morning breakfasts we shared before the 50th and 55th.  I always enjoyed meeting up with him on the fridays before the special friday nite gathering at hte Claremont.  I always wished I lived closer so that I could attend the mini reunions that were held yearly.  That was another of Al's innovations.

I couldn't believe it when Al told me he had stage 4 lung cancer, and was to undergo gamma knife radiation for multiple brain lesions. Al told me that he really wanted to make it to his 50th Wedding Anniversary, with his beloved Gayle.  I prayed that he would; thus it came as an unnerving shock to learn that he had passed just 4 days after his 77th birthday.  I would love to have a "Mulligan" (golf term for a do over) for those 4 years I missed talking with one of the nicest guys I've ever known.  Godspeed AL!

Commenting on Jim Packwood's memory:

Jim, very touching. Thanks much.

Al was a unique man; much in him we all admired.

We all leave this life for the next one day (sooner now for each of us than ever before, duh!"

As a Christ-follower, I have ached for close classmate friends, who never knew my precious Savior. He IS knowable!! if interested, read "My Story", or, contact me to talk/text, openly, frankly & fruitfully. Here in Kona.
